A bit of myself

Greetings! Ammar Ibrahim here! A generally curious being with the passion of improving other's life through design & constantly eager to learn new things. I found myself intrigued by doing research, brainstorming ideas, and the concept of being technical & structured while still possessing creative freedom at hands.
I'm a mostly self taught UI/UX designer, and I've been practicing my skills since early 2020 by attempting to improve the experience of the app I'm using daily through case studies on solving the existing problems.

Why
Product Design?

Being a product designer was not my first career path of choice. Initially a science student; food technology to be exact, and was very set to be a scientist. Then life threw a curveball somehow & to continue pursuing science career path is no longer an option. It didn't stop me though, so I looked for alternate career path & eventually discovered product design.
When life gives you lemon, might as well make a lemonade
The various aspects involved (brainstorming, doing research, designing, writing, etc) in the designing process piqued my interest right away. It's pretty much the same things I do on my studied-field; same trailer different park situation, so I believe the skills I've studied/already possessed can be useful & possibly honed in this newly-discovered field. I also admire the idea of being able to improve and even possibly change people's life through design, so that's my cue to shoot my shot at UI/UX design.
The horizon where elaborately structured process meets creative freedom
For me, being a product designer is so much more than just being a designer. Being a product designer requires you to be a researcher, be creative & critical to brainstorm solutions, be able to work with people, understand people's behavior & their needs, and most importantly you need to be able to convey your design to your audience through your communication & story telling skill; so many aspects involved. And that's the appeal of product design.
